Size matters
The Mini IT13 features a plastic casing, enhanced with metal reinforcements beneath the surface. This design draws parallels with Intel NUC devices, ensuring robust stability. The top lid presents an appealing appearance, possibly outshining comparable models from Intel's range.
To access the Mini IT13's internals, one must unscrew the base plate via the four Phillips-head screws. Use of a delicate screwdriver is recommended, taking care not to harm the elongated ribbon connector. The backplate comes equipped with an SSD sled and is designed to retain the screws, reducing the risk of misplacement.
The Mini IT12 is furnished with 32GB DDR4-3200 RAM and a 2TB PCIe Gen4 x4 SSD, facilitating straightforward upgrades. Inside, there's an M.2 2280 slot, complemented by a secondary M.2 2242 SATA SSD slot. To carry out maintenance, you'll need to remove the four cross-head screws situated on the bottom.
A comprehensive array of ports adorns the Mini IT13's rear, comprising a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, USB 2.0, dual USB4 ports supporting 40 Gbps data transfer and 8K display at 60 Hz, and two HDMI 2.0 ports for a dual display configuration. An RJ45 LAN port, boasting a 2.5 Gbps transfer speed, is also included.
The compact design of the Mini IT13 does not compromise on port availability, with most situated on the device's front and rear. To the left, there's an SD card slot, while the right side features a Kensington lock slot. The front is furnished with two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports and a 3.5 mm audio jack. In terms of wireless connectivity, the Mini IT13 is equipped with Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E, ensuring strong and efficient connections. It comes with Windows 11 Pro pre-installed.
Internally, the Mini IT13 facilitates straightforward management of SODIMMs and the integrated Kings PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. It allows for hassle-free SSD swapping and has provision for an extra NVMe SSD, provided its length is within 42mm. It's essential to affix the backplate correctly to ensure a safe connection between the NVMe and the heat spreader.
