Final words and conclusion

With the MSRP of the Relay Speakers of 249.99 USD and the subwoofer - of 149.99 USD - it’s a rather expensive set. Compact speakers are great, especially if you have little space on your desk. With their matte finish, rounded corners, exposed drivers, and lack of visible controls, the little Relay Speakers are delightfully minimalist, easy on the eyes, and doubly so in white. Aside from a single white LED on the left speaker, there are no illumination effects, no branding, no weird accents—nothing that would serve as a distraction or mar the clean look of their design. The subwoofer is also small enough that you might decide to put it behind your monitor or one of the speakers rather than shoving it under your desk or in a corner.

NZXT Relay Speakers are primarily aimed at those who do not have the desire or the possibility of imposing speakers on their desks. If you have this possibility, you will most likely be able to find more competition in the same price range and gain in “performance,” but it will be larger in dimensions. This set is very convincing with the subwoofer due to a fairly neutral tuning and a high level of detail. We recommend the Relay SPEAKERS in a set with the subwoofer from NZXT. It is of top quality and wonderfully matched to the speakers. It has great depth and fits the sound of the speakers. The speaker system delivers more bass in conjunction with the subwoofer, and the sound from the two quite compact speakers is also very convincing. With the Relay series, NZXT has created a solid and good system that combines a neutral sound with a simple design. The drawbacks include the lack of digital input and the volume dial on the back (you can adjust it later in Windows or using the Switchmix, but still). Nevertheless, the bottom line is that the NZXT Relay SPEAKERS are nice if you are looking for something compact and stylish.

Conclusion

You must spend 249.99 USD and 149.99 USD for the subwoofer - Relay is a pretty decent deal for what you get (yeah, overall, the price is steep, but you must consider the benefits, not only the economic side). NZXT is not a price breaker with the Relay Speakers and the Relay Subwoofer, but what is offered is undoubtedly respectable. It provides a very satisfying audio quality (but it's definitely for daily usage rather than for audiophiles). The Relay delivers a more than solid performance in music and gaming. NZXT has created something more in line with the HiFi market, and it will be a true next-level upgrade for any PC user. There are two drawbacks worth mentioning – the volume dial is on the back of the speaker, and there is a lack of support for digital input. Bluetooth's also missing, which can be important for some potential users. It’s a (rather) expensive speaker+subwoofer set, but it's still worthy of a Silver award, given the general features/performance.
