ASRock PG32QF2B Monitor Technical Specifications and Review

In 2022, ASRock introduced their Phantom Gaming series of monitors, with the PG32QF2B being a standout curved model in this lineup. It features a WQHD VA panel with a 165 Hz refresh rate, support for Adaptive-Sync, HDR 400, and extended color specifications. The ASRock PG32QF2B monitor is a 31.5-inch display boasting a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 93 ppi, ensuring crystal-clear visuals without the need for image scaling. Key technical attributes of this monitor include a peak brightness of 550 cd/m², a contrast ratio of 3000:1, and a rapid 1 ms response time. Notably, it also serves as a WIFI/WLAN antenna, which is an interesting feature. Currently prices well under $300 this might be an attractive alternative to opt from. Despite its use of a VA panel, the ASRock Phantom Gaming monitor strikes a balance between characteristics typically associated with both IPS and VA panels. While its pixel response time isn't perfect, resulting in minor ghosting effects, it doesn't significantly hinder fast-paced gaming, a common issue with conventional VA panels.

The monitor's LED backlight incorporates a field dimming feature, enhancing the dynamic range for both SDR and HDR content. In HDR mode, this feature remains consistently active, achieving a contrast ratio nearing 17,000:1 in assessments. The monitor offers a substantial peak light output of nearly 500 nits in HDR mode and slightly over 300 nits in SDR mode. Its color gamut covers approximately 85% of the DCI-P3 spectrum, which is standard for monitors of this class. ASRock's design choice aims to bridge the gap between sRGB and P3, making it compatible with SDR content produced in a more limited color space while maintaining rich color quality.

The Phantom Gaming monitor incorporates ASRock's Low Blue Light Technology, designed to mitigate the potentially harmful blue light emissions from the display. Users have the flexibility to adjust the blue light filter intensity, ranging between levels 1 to 10, to tailor their viewing preferences. To further optimize the visual experience, the monitor has integrated Flicker-free technology, aiming to diminish screen flicker and consequently reduce visual fatigue. For those prioritizing fluid visuals, this monitor is equipped with AMD FreeSync Premium certification, ensuring low latency, a high refresh rate, and compensation for low framerates. On the connectivity front, it offers one DisplayPort 1.4, capable of supporting up to a 165Hz refresh rate. For diversified input sources, there are two HDMI 2.0 ports, making it suitable for multiple displays and various gaming consoles. Enhanced audio is provided through two embedded speakers, complemented by a 3.5mm earphone output to cater to diverse auditory requirements.

Structurally, the Phantom Gaming monitor is paired with a stand engineered for ergonomic considerations. This stand facilitates swivel, tilt, and height modifications, granting users an extensive range of adjustments to ascertain their ideal viewing angle.
