NZXT Relay Speakers and Subwoofer review

Introduction

Today, we can check the new speakers (+subwoofer) from NZXT, called Relay. You wouldn’t expect it from a company mainly known for its chassis, AIOs, and some – Intel-based motherboards (done together with ECS). The mentioned speakers and a subwoofer are not the only audio-related products that NZXT has released, as there’s also a headset + SwitchMix audio interface, but this will be covered in a separate review. Returning to this review’s heroes, you will get the active speakers with a 76 mm glass fiber woofer and 20 mm silk dome tweeter that has been put in an MDF enclosure. It should minimize the distortion and enable a wider dynamic range. The power output is 40 W per speaker. The frequency range is 70 Hz to 20 kHz, and a THD below 1% (at 1 kHz). The size is (WxDxH) - 4.53 in (115 mm) x 6.26 in (159 mm) x 7.32 in (186 mm). The weight is 3 kg.

There are two color variants:

• White
• Black

As for the subwoofer – it has a (paper/foam) 6.5-inch driver in a Medium-Density Fiberboard (MDF). The power output is 140 W (peak). The frequency range is 45 Hz – 150 kHz, and a THD of < 5% (at 250 Hz). The size is (WxDxH) - 8.31 in (211 mm) x 12.3 in (312.5 mm) x 10 in (254 mm). The weight is 10.8 lb (4.9 kg).

The MSRP of the Relay Speakers is 249.99 USD, and the subwoofer is 149.99 USD. The product carries a 2-year warranty. The design is not “gaming” but rather elegant. But does it also mean that they will sound good? Well, let’s hit the next page.
