Introduction

KTC G42P5 OLED Monitor Review
A 16:9 OLED monitor that is (relatively) budget-friendly

OLED monitors are becoming more available and popular these days. Today, we will review the KTC G42P5, the 42” 4K display from a company that wasn’t known to many, but there’s a chance it may change soon. Shenzhen KTC Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in Shenzhen in 1995, so it has quite a long story (almost 30 years of existence). It mainly specialized (as an OEM manufacturer) in making TV sets, tablets, AR, and monitors for partners like NEC, Samsung, Viewsonic, and others. In January 2021, they introduced their brand, KTC (Key To Combat). They have quite a wide range of monitors, including:

The KTC G42P5 is designed primarily for gamers (but it should work for video and web usage as well after getting used to the size), and it’s currently offered at the KTC website at a reasonable price of 1199.99 USD (with the stand) and 1099.99 USD (without it). The design is quite elegant, with a white-metal backside. With a 42-inch diagonal in 16:9 format, the KTC G42P5 would be considered compact as a television, but it’s already a giant screen for a monitor. A very similar product is the reviewed Asus ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ.
