Cougar Blazer review
Blaze(r) of all aluminium glory?

This time around, we’re checking out the Cougar BLAZER, an all-aluminium, open frame, mid-tower PC chassis.

This new case comes in only one variant (with orange accents), and that’s a pity, because not everyone will like this color, (Hilbert: What? Dutch people love orange!) and it also won’t suite some components as well. The dimensions are rather vast for a mid-tower, as they’re 226 x 535 x 560 mm /8.9 x 21.1 x 22 in (WxHxD). That’s 67.7 l in total, so quite a lot. The case supports Mini ITX / Micro ATX / ATX / CEB motherboards. The weight is low: 9.8 kg (well, it’s aluminum). According to the specification, you can fit up to five 2.5” and three 3.5” drives inside. On the front, you will find the following ports:

  • USB 3.0 (2 x),
  • 3.5 mm HD audio jacks
  • Power on/Reset button

It’s not a typical, 24 hours-a-day chassis, because you don’t have any filters here, and the air comes through freely (well, that’s the concept). The Cougar BLAZER has many cooling options, with support for radiators up to 360 mm at the front and 240 mm on the top. It’s possible to mount up to three 120 mm fans at the front and two ones at the top. No fans are included here, so you can pick the ones you love. You can fit CPU air coolers with a max height of 160 mm, and GPUs up to 350 mm in length.  The case has two 5 mm tempered glass panels. Everything inside is visible all the time, also due to the open-frame construction. You get what you see, correct?

The suggested price is 249.99 USD (but street prices are cheaper). Let’s check out the specs and features of this chassis intended rather as a showcase than for daily use, shall we?
