OCZ RevoDrive Hybrid

With two 2281 controllers the RevoDrive Hybrid is pushing 910GB/s reads and 810GB/s writes. OCZ is advertising up to 65,000 4KB average write IOPS. But with all numbers counts this golden rule; once its cached.

Here we have the PCB detached from the top layer, a small connector is responsible for the interconnect in-between the PCBs. We count four NAND flash ICs on this side.

In total the SSD partition has 16 OCZ branded 25nm asynchronous NAND flash ICs tied to them. Currently we are still awaiting the OCZ NAND flash specifics, no details have been released just yet.

The card supports full TRIM support in combo with the VCA layer. Under Windows 7 or deleting files off of, will result in LBAs being TRIMed by the SF2281 controllers.

PCI Express 4x - In the past OCZ used a PCI-X RAID controller to keep costs down, but that's gone now. The upper right IC by the way is am Enpiron 6 Amp Feature Rich Buck Converter with Integrated Inductor for power regulation. Each PCB has one of these.

And last but not least, OCZ's own branded FLASH NAND ICs. Certainly surprising and interesting to see. By the way, the Power Consumption for this product is 8.1W idle and 10W when active. OCZ Technology will offer you a three year carry-in warranty for the RevoDrive Hybrid.
