Performance Application load times

Performance Application load times

Next to gaming where a cache will help out massively is obviously your default applications. Once they get cached, the next time and next and next and next they'll load up much faster. We've quickly tested three apps:

We start off with Acronis true Image, software we use to clone HDDs and SSDs. We run it four times. From the moment we click on the icon and load up the application to the moment the software has loaded completely.

The first run has caching off, the second has caching on on and the minute the data is cached we can see a nice improvement in overall load time. For RUN 3 we shaved off four seconds opposed to the regular HDD.

For our second title we take Cyberlink MediaEspresso, the popular transcoding software.  Again from the moment we click on the desktop icon and load up the application towards the moment we see the menu is what we are looking at for load time in seconds.

Again, The first run has caching off, the second has caching on on and the minute the data is cached we can see a nice improvement in overall load time. For RUN 3 we shaved off an impressive five seconds opposed to loading the game from the HDD.

Mind you that as long as you on occasion use the software, it'll remain cached and thus fast loading.

For the 3rd test we take SiSoft Sandra the popular analysis and benchmark suite. It loads up tremendous amounts of data at startup so much that non cached it takes 25 seconds for Sandra to complete.

And here we shave over half the loading time thanks to the SSD cache, again .. use it on a regular basis and it'll remain cached.
