Performance HD Tune PRO

HD Tune Pro

HD Tune Pro is a hard disk utility and benchmarking utility for Windows. This tiny application allows you to scan your hard drives for errors or take a deeper look at several performance figures coming from the storage unit.

OCZ RevoDrive Hybrid

So the RevoDrive Hybrid REALLY likes standard file tests, you know why ? Because these tests use the same repetitive 64MB chunk of data data over and over again. And that's what caches like and are all about alright.

We fire off 64MB of data comprising out of sizes ranging from 0,5 KB to 8 MB. Check it out. As you can see once we pass 32KB file size, the drive kicks in hard already pushing over 200MB/sec. Maximum peak writes are just over 700'ish  MB/sec with nearing 700 MB read peaks.

HDTune run 3

One of the more dirty tests then, in HDTune we average out roughly 74MB/sec on Reads non cached. Once we land at the third run that average has doubled towards 155 MB/sec with peaks to 194 MB/sec. you can easily tell that the cache kicks in, look what happens with the access time in chart one and then the next.

Not bad at all. No write test results here as HDtune requires an unformatted partition, and we can no cache an unformatted partition.

IOPS 1MB run 3

Excellent great write IOPS performance. Once we hit run 3 we get 32MB/sec on 4KB files returned (coming from 0,2 MB) which is quite nice. Once we go larger in file-size and look at 1 MB performance, things pick up quickly again as we start to peak to 624 MB/sec where run 1 was still at 32 MB.
