During a recent troubleshooting session, a technician inadvertently stumbled upon an unexpected find – a genuine insect, suspected to be a fly, nestled beneath the AD102 GPU chip of an RTX 4090 graphics card.

The meticulous documentation of this discovery was undertaken by YouTuber northwestrepair while dissecting the video card. Considering that the production environment for such components typically adheres to controlled conditions like cleanrooms, the presence of an insect in this context is indeed perplexing. Moreover, the narrow spaces between circuit boards and GPU chips make it improbable for an insect to become trapped post-production.

Nevertheless, the removal of this foreign object, coupled with the replacement of a minor component, resulted in the video card resuming its proper functionality. Also, a really interesting video this one, showing the repair processor is fascinating.
