The TerraMaster D5 Hybrid is designed as an external storage enclosure capable of housing three M.2 Solid State Drives (SSDs) and two 3.5-inch Hard Disk Drives (HDDs). The D5 Hybrid features a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C interface for connectivity and includes five drive bays in total—three for M.2 2280 SSDs and two for 3.5-inch HDDs. It supports TerraMaster's proprietary 2+3 array mode, allowing for various configurations. The 3.5-inch bays can be set up in RAID 0/1/JBOD/single disk configurations, while the NVMe M.2 SSD slots are designated for single disk use.

This setup is intended for segregating hot data, which requires quick access on the SSDs, and cold data, less frequently accessed, on the HDDs, aiming to achieve an optimal balance between storage capacity, performance, and cost. In terms of features, the D5 Hybrid includes an "Intelligent Hard Disk Sleep" function, which enables the device to enter sleep mode based on the connected computer's status, and an "Automatic Backup" function for Windows that facilitates folder backups without manual intervention.

The enclosure is equipped with an 80mm fan, 25mm in thickness, to manage cooling, maintaining a noise level of 17.3dBA. The dimensions of the D5 Hybrid are 222 x 119 x 154 mm, and it weighs 1.3 kg. TerraMaster provides a 2-year warranty for this product. The listed price is approximately 31,990 yen, which converts to around USD 240 (based on the exchange rate at the time of writing).
