Backups

A very important feature is the backup function of the device. Now it's not the most advanced backup software available, but you can select as many directories as you want to have your data backup stored externally at the NS4600 storage unit.

The backup feature is very easy to setup really. Select your backup directories and select a schedule at what interval you need these backups to take place. So overall, simply yet adequate enough software, that can be used by pretty much anyone.

Plug-ins

Promise will make plug-ins (if not already installed) available to the device as well. Think of an iTunes server, or the already installed MySQL ort HTTP (web) server. Bare in mind though, these are extremely hard to configure plug-ins, not intended for professional or even normal usage, but more to assist the NS2600 in it's functionality.

Such a plug-in (already installed) is a fully functional Media Center server. It will detect your MP3 or video's and will make a directory out of it. Hit play and through your client player (windows media player in our case) the music and or video starts up. Again -- it is the client side that actually has to be able to play back the content.
