(Intel XeSS Upscaling)

Intel XeSS Upscaling

Intel XeSS, which stands for Xe Super Sampling, is a feature of Intel Arc Alchemist graphics cards that helps them scale up. It works by rendering your game at a lower resolution and then bringing it up to a higher resolution using machine learning and AI hardware built into the GPU. Intel claims that their XeSS (Xe Super Sampling) speed boost, which uses temporal data and AI deep-learning to rebuild details, is technologically on par with NVIDIA DLSS 2 and AMD FSR 2.0. The technology's most vital feature is its compatibility with various graphics processing units (GPUs), not just Intel's Arc GPUs.  The variant for Intel Arc is likely to do a better job because it has a more advanced upscaling model. The Xe Matrix Extension (XMX) AI cores in Intel Arc also help it do a better job.

Players can choose from four quality modes in games that support it. Higher-quality modes offer better image quality at the cost of performance, while lower-quality modes improve performance more but may not look as good. Not many titles support XeSS yet, but two in our test suite do.

Mode Resolution scaling factor
Performance 2x
Balanced 1.7x
Quality 1.5x
Ultra quality 1.3x
