Unreal Tournament 2004
Added into our wide benchmark suite is Unreal Tournament 2004. The developers of UT2004 don't want to split hairs with this game. It is still using the same engine and the majority of gameplay elements will be very familiar to players of the 2003 version. If you hated the first game, you'll probably hate this. Sorry, but that's how it is. This large-scale, vehicle-focused game concentrates and focuses the action so that 12 players can have as much fun as 32. In one gameplay mode, each team has a power core that they need to protect. Between the teams' power cores are a number of smaller power nodes are scattered across the map.
Buggies, hovercraft, tanks, trucks, space fighters, air fighters all feature prominently in Unreal Tournament 2004 and huge maps have been made to accommodate them.
Basically what we did was record three timedemo botmatch maps, we ran all three an set resolutions with Maximum detail settings enabled and the results were then compiled into an average.
UT 2004 | 800x600 | 1024x768 | 1280x1024 | 1600x1200 |
FX5500 | 69 | 49 | 33 | 27 |
4xAA 8xAF | 105 | 86 | 63 | 48 |
5900 XT GALAXY | 117 | 115 | 98 | 85 |
5950 ULTRA | 118 | 119 | 111 | 99 |
475/880 | 116 | 115 | 110 | 98 |
Again, very few results, as this is brand new software that we are using as a benchmark. Up to 16x12 you'll still be able to play Unreal Tournament 2004 with all bells and whistles enabled including 4x Antialiasing and 8x Anisotropic filtering, that's really good. The timedemos used are custom made and represent real-time gameplay performance. Once overclocked look how close it is to the 5950 Ultra !
