Page 6 - Call Of Duty

Call of Dutycallofduty-tease.jpgCall of Duty is an intense first-person action game that allows players to experience the movie-like intensity and gripping combat of World War II as never before--through the eyes of ordinary soldiers, fighting as part of a squad through the chaos of battle. Developed by Infinity Ward, which is comprised of over 20 individuals who developed Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, including all the production leads, Call of Duty delivers the gritty realism and cinematic intensity of WWII's most epic battlefield moments--from the perspective of citizen soldiers and unsung heroes representing an alliance of countries, who together helped shape the course of modern history. Throughout the game's 24 missions, players will be part of a squad, who bond together to take on enemy forces and achieve mission objectives through pivotal WWII battles and authentic military campaigns.

The missions range from rescuing a captured captain, shooting down planes at an enemy airfield, and even riding in the back of an escaping military truck while the bad guys hunt you down. You have a large arsenal of machine guns, grenades, rifles, and other arms from the time period. Each weapon is correctly associated with the nation you are currently representing. One of the greatest things about the weapons is the ability to grab just about everything you can see in the battlefield. Are you a little low on ammo?

Believe it or not, the game uses a reborn Quake III engine, however the graphics in this title are simply top notch. Lighting, surfaces, shadows, and fog effects are outstanding and combined with an unparalleled ambient sound experience, players will find themselves fighting in a war. The bottom line is this: if your system will run newer games at all, Call of Duty should be smooth as honey and, with the latest generation of graphics cards, a feast for the eyes.

For our COD test we recorded our own timedemo. Actually in multiplayer mode with many people playing simultaneously we recorded a Team Deatchmatch in the surroundings of the now beautyful to visit BreCourt. Forgive me for the lack of comparative results here as this is a very new benchmark in our test suite.

FX 5500 is the GeForce FX 5500, R9600XT is the Radeon 9600 XT and 5900XT GALAXY is of course the card we are testing. 4xAA 8xAF means 4 levels of Antialiasing and 8x Anisotropic Filtering enabled. The numbers in red are the results overclocked!
