Stage 3 - Liquid Nitrogen (LN2)
Insulating and mounting the graphics cards. It took a long while to get comfortable in this area. I went through so many cards before I actually found my niche. I have a few guidelines and rules that I've followed to prevent breaking this kind of hardware.
I've tested each graphics card individually just so I know what they like and don't like. When it comes to certain voltages, subzero temperatures, clock speeds etc. Most of the cards you see here max out at around -80c, which is kind of a bummer. I'm looking into a few hard mods that may help but for the time being, I just flashed the cards to a BIOS that allows for boot up at anything below -80C...
The biggest mistake I ever made was trying to get a card working again after a reboot or a black screen. Letting these things cool off is not the best idea.
Usually if the screen goes blank or I have to restart, I take the card out and heat it up, then clean it off before putting it back on for another run. It sounds like a lot of work but it's better than wondering if your RMA will go through or not... I've broken so much hardware by waiting for it to heat up again, water dripping into the PCIe slots and all over the front of the DVI connectors.
