Final Words & Conclusion

Final Words

ASUS has successfully delivered with the Destrier, a chair that stands out due to its extensive customization options and ergonomic qualities. This chair is particularly suitable for individuals with back issues or those who prioritize ergonomics. Integrating professional office chair knowledge into a gaming chair sets it apart. Its ergonomic features are unlikely to be surpassed. Regarding aesthetics, Noble chairs may offer a slightly more visually appealing option for gaming chair enthusiasts. The ROG Destrier Ergo differentiates itself from other gaming chairs by strongly emphasising ergonomic properties instead of flashy racing aesthetics. This chair provides comfort and a wide range of adjustable features specifically designed to enhance the gaming experience. Designed with attention to detail, the chair features extra-high armrests with elbow padding that can rotate 360 degrees, catering to the needs of mobile gamers. Additionally, it incorporates advanced elements such as an acoustic shielding device, which explicitly targets gamers who struggle with concentration issues. The ROG Destrier Ergo is a hugely expensive choice with a price tag of approximately 800-900 euros. However, is this cost justified by the gaming and office chair market pricing standards? To each their own, but if the Ikea Markus at $179 works fine for you, who are we to judge?

Overall

The Asus ROG Destrier gaming chair is a meticulously designed ergonomic chair that offers a multitude of adjustments for personalized comfort. It combines various materials to deliver a durable and comfortable seating experience. Key features of this chair include an adjustable lumbar support that ensures back comfort, particularly during extended periods of use, and an extendable headrest. The integrated acoustic panel in the chair appears to prioritize style over functionality, resulting in minimal noise reduction. Additionally, while the armrests are adjustable, they exhibit instability when locked into position. I do wish the seat base spring could have been an inch or two higher, I am almost 2 meters tall, and though not at all uncomfortable, a slightly higher position of the seat base would have been preferred. Of course, selecting a gaming chair is a highly individual decision, distinct from the more technical choices associated with gaming graphics cards or CPUs. If the cost and minor issues are disregarded, the Asus ROG Destrier could be a commendable addition to any gamer's equipment collection. However, the elephant in the room here is not the chair but rather its price tag, as the Asus ROG Destrier is priced at $899-

Conclusion

The ASUS ROG Destrier is a premium ergonomic chair designed to provide comfort and promote a healthy posture during prolonged computer use. For this review, we evaluated after two weeks of usage. Initially, we noticed that the ASUS ROG Destrier Ergo materials felt coarse and perhaps a little uncomfortable, requiring an adjustment period. However, over time, the lumbar support feature proved beneficial, encouraging proper sitting and ensuring the user's posture and overall well-being. This chair prioritizes the user's physical health and addresses the potential adverse effects of extended computer use. Although the detachable acoustic panel may appear to be a mere marketing tactic, it does contribute to a more immersive gaming experience by reducing distractions. While it may not significantly enhance audio quality, it engages the user in the game or the media being enjoyed. The ASUS ROG Destrier Ergo stands out with its craftsmanship, ergonomic design, and features tailored for gamers. However, its approximately 800-900 USD/Euro price will limit its accessibility to many end-users. It's just so much money for a chair.
