Now here was the damage. The fan+grill where torn off the PSU during transport (thanks USPS).

It did give me an opportunity for a closer look at the actual PSU itself. It is an ECO 80 specification model rated for 550w with 99% Power Factor Correction. Which is actually pretty good for a mid-range PC. It has plenty of power to cope with a fairly decent single GPU based Quad Core processor PC.

Right, let's mount her shut again. Again we clamp it down with rubber hinges to prevent noise/resonation. great stuff. The PSU itself comes with the following connectors:

  • 20 + 4 Pin Connector
  • 4 Pin 12V Connector for CPU
  • 6 + 2 Pin PCIe Connector x 1
  • 6 Pin PCIe Connector x 1
  • S-ATA Connector x 4
  • Molex Connector x 3
  • Floppy Connector x 1
  • Case Fans Connector x 1

The one thing we missed here is an 8-pin power connector for the processor. The 4-pin will work fine. Bit with more high-end Quad core processor, the 8-pin power delivery would be better and more stable as it adds an extra phase. Mind you that the 4-pin connector can be used on an 8-pin header perfectly.
