Aura89:

Don't count on ever getting another unreal tournament, they halted the development of the current one indefinitely, and if it never gets 'finished', then i don't see why they'd ever even try and make a new one.
I hope they finish it

If they finish UT4 it will be probably something like UT3 and dat is not the best option. Better choice is UT2004 remake and add few new maps, characters plus onslaugh for single player. Booooooom!!!

Um, they tried that - it didn't work. They specifically hired community members who wanted that exact same thing, and tried to keep the game to be a update of ut2004. There were extraordinary problems with the game design, as a result, and most agreed that the 'devs' were far too biased to make a game (basically) just for them, and no one else. Total and utter disaster.

Oh, this was Epic Games - they finally killed off the CF of ineptitude. You want me to locate and find the dev blogs that talk about their intentions? I think it is their very first blog that covered this topic.

The only people they hired from the community were a few artists. They allowed the community to drive the development of the game but it certainty wasn't towards UT2004 . The White Dragon & Sir Brizz from BeyondUT pushed a narrative of "This game needs to be UT99" and that's exactly what they got and why it sucked - they tried to do the same thing with UT3 and got nearly the same result. They'd later argue that Epic didn't follow their vision completely or some nonsense and that's why it didn't work out. I know because I would constantly argue with them that no one wanted to play the game they were making only to have their shitty community of garbage flood my threads/posts with nonsense. I'm honestly glad the game failed. They wanted to sit there and build a game with 1999 design standards and were baffled when no one wanted to play it.

I was referring to the 'community leaders' they 'hired' that were unpaid, and tried to drive the narrative forward. The narrative being 'if anyone questions what we are doing - silence them'.

Good to know it was original UT so maybe later sameone will do some mod or remake for UT2004. Today is popular create mods or remakes for old good games.

UT and old school death match is basically dead. There's a lack of desire to put the time into perfecting skills to win. This in part is why I think games like Fortnite and PUBG does well, because psychologically there's more of a "chance" that the player "could" win (even if the actual result is they lose most of the time and the odds are worse than traditional DM), rather than the most skilled players taking the win every time. The number of players involved in a match in battle royale games also means that 99% will lose, so they're in good company. For most people, it's more fun to "survive" for a few minutes, rather than being constantly killed every few seconds like in DM.
