AMD Releases Radeon FreeSync 2 HDR Oasis Demo

Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 15

teaser

AMD today is releasing a new technology demo that showcases FreeSync (Adaptive Sync) as well as HDR. The new Oasis demo cycles through some nice scenery and you can proactively switch in-between FreeSync On/Off and if your monitor supports it FreeSync 2 HDR. The demo is not meant as a benchmark but serves as a tool to compare a bit at home. We have been able to test the Oasis demo here (close to 6GB download!), and it does look nice. The demo is built in Unreal Engine 4 and supports HDR10, as well as FreeSync 2 HDR transport protocols.

"The Oasis is filled with lush flora and breathtaking views. The ability to toggle between various FreeSync modes, including FreeSync and FreeSync 2 HDR, highlights the night-and-day difference FreeSync technology brings to the gaming experience when compared to non-FreeSync displays."

Below a capture, in SDR for Youtube, of course, that serves as an example. We'll add the demo towards our download section once AMD approves it. Again, we cannot share the demo right now as we received an early media build. The demo below runs on the AMD Radeon VII.

* Video is still converting to HQ on YT - stutters you see are due to the changes I apply in the OSD menu.
