With prices like this, whoever pre-installs cheap-slow-ass HDD to laptops should be fired. Switching from hdd to ssd in laptop is massive difference in performance. Not to mention desktop PCs.

Well, it depends on your needs. I have 1TB just for Steam (Origin etc.) and Oculus VR.

I still have 4 TB of HDD for games in a machine that would love to be 8TB SSD but I was never going to pay the high prices to do a change to SSD. So I am one of the people looking forward to price drops on SSD.

This drop is due to an oversupply and not indicative of overall electronic pricing. Regardless the 15% tariff increase got delayed, it actually goes into effect tomorrow, May 10th.

The 25% tariff on Tech items has been in place for almost a year. I don't know which SSD components are on that list. But even if more components go from 10% to 25%, that doesn't necessarily mean 15% more expensive. Not EVERYTHING is made in China.. And actually according to this list, most NAND Fabs are in South Korea (Samsung), USA, Singapore (Micron), etc. There are some fabs in China of course but SSD market is extremely competitive which is why we don't see collusion too often like we do with many other components. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_semiconductor_fabrication_plants And good on Trump for facing China the way he is, people have no idea how extremely wealthy they are becoming at our expense.

I been using an SSD since late 2009. My first one was a 120GB OCZ Vertex 1 (Indilinx Barefoot) and set me back 360 Euro's.

I know the article says "below 10c/GB" by years end but unless I missing something here ssd prices are already at 10-12c/GB. Example: Can get 1TB SanDisk SSD Plus 1TB or Samsung SSD 860 QVO for €105 and €107.5 respectively. Same goes for 480-512GB ones. Seen prices starting from €48-49 for generic brands and €58-60 for more known ones.
