@vbetts: It is almost like saying XYZ is not strictly illegal, so you would do that. For example, you sit in a cab, and there is nowhere that Cab driver has promised that he won't push breaks multiple times unnecessarily, so you would allow him to do that? In other words, some people have a policy of dividing things into black and white only, some have a policy of dividing things in white, grey and black. And what Nvidia is doing is indeed in the grey area. It is your choice to continue trying to buy from a seller, while avoiding his attempts to cheat you. I would rather chose to buy it from someone who doesn't try to cheat me (if I let up). Unfortunately, as is obvious, AMD has tried the same things as well. But I must draw your attention to the fact that within the last 1-2 years, AMD is looking to be heading in the right direction. Now that their financials are in better place.
Nvidia is not doing anything grey area, they are following their trends as they always have in terms of price prefs.

And even if they aren't i think so far this generation of cards is quite clear... 16 Series 50/60/60ti is all pretty clear, Then 20 series 60/70/80/80ti with the 20 series just also being out right stronger in performance (though that could change if the 16 series also gets a 70/80 cards). Also anyone not looking up stuff about technology when its so easy to get information is just kinda asking for it. Reviews are there for a reason. Not to mention the now-techie customers tend to buy pre-builts anyway and often have zero knowledge about how it all works.... had someone buy two 550tis cause they thought id double performance, instead of a stronger single card. Isn't much helping that honestly

There is nothing fishy about this. The only question that I have is who are these cards geared towards? Users who have a 1050/1050 ti who are looking for an upgrade without breaking the bank?

I just hope the bus width isn't 128
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/56/56686.jpg
Nvidia "lets add to confusion with the multiple naming scheme this gen, and Gen after that lets and even more naming scheme!" but lets not forget the multiply variants of each series too! That aside, I guess this is great? all though I fully beleive 128~ 198bit bus card need to go extinct

Hmmm...wonder which of these will sport nVidia's "budget" 128-bit bus...?....;)

Besides AMD was on the brink of collapse. They had at least some reason to do such things. Such is not the case with Nvidia. And what have they done? They have absurdly increased the prices even further!
Amazing, actually, how this company--perpetually said to be "on the brink of collapse" by persons who know little about it--has a bizarre habit of launching products that put its competitors into a frenzy, eh? Lol...;) BTW, nVidia's lowered its guidance by a cool $1.2B in the last few quarters--not AMD. Ah, if only I had a dollar for all the times people have said, "AMD is doomed!" since 1999...! (Reminds me of how the clock for global warming killing us all gets reset every decade when--wooops!--we're still here and the polar ice is thicker than ever..!...;))
It is their policies, not the numbers that make me shun them. PS: I may have a AMD GPU right now, but I do have Nvidia ones as well.
It's their PR marketing that leaves me cold (and very misleading it is!)...stuff like "It just works," yea, right. Sure thing. Pricing your GPUs as if you actually had "real-time ray-tracing" when you actually don't, and as if DLSS meant something aside from "Deep Learning lesson for Super Suckers"...is bizarre, to say the least.

I expect it to be somewhere between a 1060 3GB and 1060 6GB in performance.

Please realize that not everybody upgrades as soon as the latest and greatest hardware comes out. There are still people out there who are using 9 and 7 series cards. I'm still using a GTX 980 which suffices for my current use (Elite Dangerous is not that performance heavy of a title) and before that I had a GTX 580. I'm sure that there are plenty of other people who are on even lower GPU's and might be considering an upgrade to a more powerful GPU for a low price. For those people this card would be a major boost.

I do realize that. Also with people running a 1050 or 1050 ti who are looking at upgrading would see a good boost as well.

The ones who got rx570 instead 1050's this card would not be an upgrade. Nvidia didnt give us a good X50 card since 750ti.

If they do that with no PCI-e 6 pin and low profile this will be the e-sport/lan box winner.

if it can do 1060 performance @$119 it would be a winner.

Wishful thinking. It will be more like 180$ for a 1060 3gb performance.
