Best way around that is to completely disable all the auto updates, disable it in task scheduler and turn off windows update service. There are lots of third party apps you can download that will let you manually search for updates and only install the specific ones you want. After reboot just go back and make sure the update process didn't turn anything back on again. Its not an ideal situation but when patches are only released once a month I think its worth doing. Alternatively just go back to win7 and don't stress 🙂
