what left me worried is that we had other effects to make reflections on shiny object without ray tracing ( like environmental mapping or something like that ) While those are lower realistic and lower quality, they are not bad. in rtx demos looks like that if you do not have rtx, those effects are not available for some strange reason. I wonder how many people would `WOW!` comparing the reflections only. I understand that global illumination is better with raytracing, but that is not shown in the demo

They will end up showing in racing games that the rear mirror does not work if you do not ray trace....

is there any games besides fps'ers that don't need 60+frames they could try this on?

Many strategy games are fps locked to 30. EA does it a lot, that's why I do not play them as I need 60 even there. Puzzle/card/turn based games are just fine with 30fps.

Obviously visuals are not of the upmost importance in competitive games, but with a a single player story driven game it is. As i mentioned before, i think having the option to turn it off completely for gameplay, but have it enabled could be good. It could also make the switch jarring, but it would be nice to have the choice. The auto optimisation setting in games like Forza etc.. is the best addition to PC gaming in years, so i wouldn't mind seeing these higher end settings be enabled/disabled and scaled up and down automatically based on your target framerate. More work for the devs though so...
