The upside is it looks like a $1,000 video card, the downside is it probably IS a $1,000 video card... 😕

It would not surprise me if this is the RTX 3080 and it is $1,000/£1,000 with a later RTX 3080 Ti coming in at $1,300/£1,300, such is NVIDIA's pricing in the last few years, pushing prices higher and higher because they can get away with it and due to the complete lack of competition from AMD. So glad I bought the GTX 1080 Ti as three years on it is still an exceptionally good card for the £700 I paid for it, capable of running all the games I play at max quality and 60 fps+ at 2560x1440. See no reason to upgrade until next year when the next gen consoles are out and developers are targetting higher 4K/60 fps specifications with ray-tracing features. Ray-tracing has been deeply underwhelming so far with the RTX 2000 series from what I've seen and experienced on my GTX 1080 Ti (albeit at very low framerates but at least I can see how they look for myself which is the main thing for me). RTX adds very little to the gameplay experience IMO.

At least 1300+ 😛 Things will go higher, even on AMD side... Keep inmind, Nvidia Geforce NOW also launched, people began to pay for it now, June.

Lets be ready for a 500$ midrange cards.

The PCB size seems (looking at the drawing) to be just a bit (ca. 1 inch) longer than that of the RTX 2070FE card. Layout looks quite about same (8 RAM chips around GPU) - so probably nothing new in regards of HBM2/GDDR6, or the likes.

I like the design. I don’t think they will try to push price up this gen. Nvidia is very scared of RDNA2 after the specs of the consoles dropped.

At $700-$800 dollars these will likely be worth the switch, given the potential DLSS 2.0 has to bring, so long as games actually implement it, or they can piggyback off TAA (as is rumoured). If it's $1,000 you could just about buy both new consoles for the same price. I may well do that and stick with my 1080ti if they continue to raise the prices.

Nvidia has no reason to be afraid of AMD right now unless their new cards offer twice the performance at half the price. Right now Nvidia holds all the cards and it´s up to AMD to rise their game. Something i hope it happens because we really need a Rizen moment on the GPU market...

I spent $460 (+tax, shipping) on a GTX 1070, four years ago. I spent $330+ on a GTX970, previous to that. A few weeks ago, my 5700XT was $390+, and that felt like a "bargain". (bangs head repeatedly) $500? I think we were already there, especially with ngreedia, it happened with the 10 series.

That would mean a push-pull design in order to get maximum airflow
Look again @Hilbert Hagedoorn , both fans are pushing, the one on the back is a high pressure type.

yeah, when you think of it 2070super is already 500$ midrange card, amd isnt doing much better with 400$ 5700xt. You will be able to buy a damn ps5 for the price of it. Pc gaming at its best.

Promising cooler design. If a Ti emerges at a decent price, I'll get one. If not my 1080ti will continue its unexpectedly long stint in my PC 🙂
data/avatar/default/avatar09.webp
Oh dear, if we get to the point where the Ti model comes around 1000/1200£ once again, i will be skipping this Gen entirely and i will stick with my 1080ti. 1000£ for a GPU is just way too much money even when you can afford it, it doesn't worth it.

Naw bro. They are scared. I’m not a fanboy of either in fact I get accused more often than not of being a Intel/Nvidia fanboy. The moves taken scream Nvidia fears RDNA2.

if these were back to back sli without a slot spacing between cards, the high pressure fan could be to blow/suck air through the cooler on both cards

LOL. the performance of next gen xbox will be similar to the performance of a 2080super. the console version is probably a downclocked version of what the GPU on a dedicated card could really achieve, but they still would need to get at least a +40% performance above that to be on par with the 3080. and nvidia has some other features to offer beside that, like DLSS or reliable drivers. also, nvidia will sure launch their cards on the same day of announcement, but AMD is famous of its "paper launch". anyway, I hope AMD will step up their game and will have a competitive offer, as I really want to upgrade my video card this fall 🙂

This is quite likely the intent, the 2080 FE's were nasty for back to back sli.

I think it's the same fake like Radeon R9 390X history some time ago (the same forums...)
The images are pretty authentic looking and conform (mostly) to our leak of a few hours ago. Only problem is - they are completely fake and are essentially a Photoshop recreation of the image by an Artist on Chiphell forums.
Another reason for being fake is the lack of the "touch this to become immortal" button which we know that will be there along with the "touch this to cure famine in the world" button...

:D So, AMD is goner unless they have 4 times as high performance per $? Good luck with that kind of thinking.

They are both targeting 1440p @60fps. That does not make them midrange/mainstream. Mainstream is 1080p @60fps, because mainstream players have 1080p screens limited to 60~75Hz. I would be happy if mainstream moved to screens w/ 1080p & 144Hz .

Check it out, these could be the first pictures of a reference NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, that would be an "Ampere" graphics card. And it has a unique and different design alright. ... Is this the GeForce RTX 3080?
I hope not.
