And 4gb 480 at 199. I envy us prices 239 for 480 8gb. And 249 for 1060. All good buys. Well ok reference 480 cooler is simply ****
Custom EVGA GTX 1060 goes for 289 € here which is not that bad.

Prices revealed in our country, Zotac Amp! GTX 1060 is same price as a reference RX 480 8GB at 300 USD Doom can go beyond 200FPS in vulkan?
No it can't go over 200. I think that is some measurement error from their part. I think maxes are half of their peak performance. I don't know what they are using to capture frametimes, since I didn't know there is program reliable for that yet on Vulkan. This can be similiar problem than we had at start on AMD on fcat under dx12.

Neah,I think as usual its not good to mess with nvidia after they deliver a free cards.Imo. 🙂 Gtx 1060 has no SLI and Low-level API performance is concerning.
No SLI is a valid complaint. There is nothing wrong with it's low-level API performance and no one is concerned.

If I had to pick the RX 480 4GB, 8GB, or the GTX 1060, I'd go for the 480 4GB. These GPUs are primarily focused on mainstream, which is HD resolutions (1080p). To my knowledge, the 480 4GB has faster memory than the 8GB model while also costing less (and it wouldn't surprise me if it uses a little less power too). Assuming that offers maybe 3FPS more on average, that puts the 480 4GB GPU as the most competitive overall. However, I would rather have the 1060 than the 480 8GB.
Afaik, 4GB model is 7Ghz while 8GB model is 8Ghz

Looks just as good as the RX480 in low level api's to me. These cards are pretty much identical most of the time either is a good buy.

Well, it's clear 1060 is a better card than RX480. Good product, at 250$ it's indeed a great deal! Great review Hilbert!

Nice card, definitely the best price performance ratio, when compared to 1070 and 1080. Also notice in the game charts, how the difference in FPS terms between the 1060 and 1070 is about the same as between the 1070 and 1080. Basically nvidia covered all fronts, but prices on 1070 and especially 1080 are still way, way over the top. And they will remain there, until AMD puts out their equivalent to those cards, and hopefully to the 1080Ti as well.

Is there a list with vulcan titles that are coming ? Seems Doom is already running at high enough frames , nice if you have a really low end card not this. Talos principle is also not really a good example.
Any id game in the future. We will probably play new Quake/Prey 2 with Vulcan API.

It's got to be an error. The fact it goes over 200 puts their RX480 numbers into question. My guess, someone read the graphs wrong. Look at GTX980 Tomb Raider maximum fps lol, seriously? http://www.hardocp.com/article/2016/07/19/nvidia_geforce_gtx_1060_founders_edition_review/6#.V44_ZMtTFaQ

gtx980 pulls ahead of 1060 in most games despite nvidia saying they perform the same. Overclocking 980 to 1500mhz would smash 1060. Just like with rx480, this card is only if upgrading from gtx960 or less.

They used presetmon to capture frametimes.
We used PresentMon for Vulkan and DX12. https://github.com/GameTechDev/PresentMon

TPU Average has it 1% over the 980. The performance is the same as the 980. I mean yeah, you can OC both cards and there may be a difference, and yeah maybe the 980 pulls ahead at QHD/4K or w/e. But it's not like Nvidia is going to clarify every single scenario.

Have you looked at other reviews? Not including custom cards most have the 1060 at or near the 980. One FE review .
GTX 1060 delivers impressive performance that's twice as high as GTX 960, its predecessor, which was released at a lower $200 price point though. Compared to AMD's RX 480, the card is clearly faster when averaged out over our test suite at 1080p, with a performance increase of around 7%. This means the GTX 1060 nearly exactly matches GTX 980 performance, similar to R9 Fury, just 10% shy of R9 Fury X, AMD's current flagship. GTX 980 Ti is 20% faster, GTX 1070 beats the 1060 by 35% - overall very good positioning.

Have you looked at reviews with custom cards?
Well yeah, that's a whole different argument. The custom cards are faster then the FE tested here out of the box and they are cheaper.

Have you looked at reviews with custom cards?
Custom cards are usually higher clocked. I read FE review.

Here we go Doom Vulkan:
https://s31.postimg.org/szu6d94qj/Doom_01.png
Just under the 970 like some channels in YT reported. It must be a driver issue. It performs bad in Vulcan and that means something. edit: sry for double post.

The one I linked above is FE review - guess lottery does effect things.

Hmm the Rise of the Tomb Raider performance is kind of leaning me towards the 1060 over the 480. Still a good card though but the prices need to come down a little over this side I think (£300 for a ASUS 1060, madness).

It's up and down. If we look at 1080p numbers which is what we should be looking at for this card; GTX1060/GTX980 Tomb Raider 78/76 WIN Hitman 65/62 WIN Warhammer 71/72 AoTS 49/50 (2K res results) Doom 108/114 Primal 71/69 WIN Anno 70/80 GTA5 90/88 WIN Division 62/67 Thief 79/71 WIN Witcher3 59/60 Hardline 73/71 WIN Alien 138/139 Mordor 74/78 (2k res results) Total = 1087 vs 1097 fps Taking into account HH's benchmark numbers we're talking 10fps total difference out of nearly 1100fps, that's less than 1% difference. Overall, I'd say Nvidia was right to say they perform the same tbh. Of 14 games tested, GTX1060 beats GTX980 in 6 games, with a further 4 games only 1fps difference. GTX980 further clearly beats (more than 1fps) in 4 games. Neck n neck I'd say. GTX1060: GTX980 performance for the masses is correct. (less than 1% overall difference @1080p.)
