The VRM design is really powerful already. Could be for AIB usage, however, remember. The Radeon VII is released with 60 compute units and this 3840 shader/stream processors. AMD could always release a 64 CU version with the full 4096 stream processors. This PCB would give them leeway/flexibility.
AMD really has some nice reference designs, and it looks like the pattern continues!

Undying:

AMD could release 64cu version before Navi, exiting times.
Both cu and shaders amount, it is 6.67% more. If it is more efficient clock wise it could give us at least ~13.34% more performance. It will be no way near the performance gap between 2080ti vs 2080, or 2080 vs 2060. I don't think it is bad, but at what cost. It is a bit hard for an already expensive gpu. But I accept it as long as it cost less than 2080ti.

Unless you know you'll use the extra VRAM, I'd say the upgrade isn't worth it. I wouldn't be surprised if this is faster than a 1080 but not enough to warrant the price tag.
Yeah exactly my thought. Even though the 1080's vram speed is like 1/3rd of the VII, but CUDA is also a factor.. that thing is pretty fast for exporting.

What is that caked on the GPU, HBM and the mating surface of the heatsink? Caviar? It looks like something that should have "CAUTION: REMOVE BEFORE USE" written on it. Also, I very much hope you did your thermal testing before disturbing whatever it was.

is it a breach of NDA if you share the length of the card? Or just if it's under or over 280mm 😀

What is that sticker on photo 14? At the bracket which keeps pressure over the GPU. Warranty void sticker?

Awesome, so identical to the 2080 FE. Thank you both, will wait for the benchmarks to decide between selling the 2080 + EK waterblock and buying the VII, or adding the 2080 to the custom loop 🙂

Like the trend toward more simple looking shrouds. Sick of putting batmobiles inside my PC.

Looking forward to the reviews of this...even if it's just to see any AMD card being put up against nVidia's high end again for a change. 😱

It is going to be very interesting to see how this puppy stacks up against the GTX 1080 Ti and RTX 2080. I expect a 100 dollar price drop to happen on both the 2080 and 2080 Ti if this card matches a 2080.
I expect that too. Still, if its equal or slightly better than the 2080, I'll bet there will not be enough to go around and may be out of stock more often than not. In which case Nvidia will grin and bump their prices back up.

Considering the RTX line hasn't sold as well as Mr. Leather Jacket expected, they might indeed take this opportunity to drop the prices. Otherwise I wouldn't expect it.

And hats off to AMD because you see all those VRMS with the [+] sign on well they are all very high end like you'd find on a 2080ti Lightning Z or HOF cards. Apparently they are the best and most expensive. It also could be that OC'd this thing needs a lot of juice hence needing better vrm power phases/switches.

Why would Nvidia drop the 2080 price if the Radeon VII matches it while costing exactly the same? Makes no sense.

Looks OK. Larger distances between VRMs leave more mass (PCB) to sink and radiate heat from them. Card could clearly have more condensed PCB and that 3rd fan could just blow air through radiator unobstructed by PCB. And they did similar thing in past. Interesting choice, makes me wonder.

I think that in near future we gonna see Games run better and better with AMD's Hardware, Since now- AMD got the Cash to spend on Optimization by Game Dev's, Lisa was asked about it and how this Cash-flow helps Radeon and she explained that it Helps them to work with Game Developers to start optimizing for their GPU's, this cost $$$$ and finally they are at place that they can afford it.

Nice! I have a feeling it is going to stay really cool from the looks of it. Looking forward to the review late night/early morning, thanks Hilbert as always. One thing is for sure this will be the first Desktop GPU to run RE2 Remake on Ultra Textures with out going into the red 🙂 , I still don't know what that game is doing that it eats so much video memory.
