Four GeForce GTX 670 (and 2/3-way SLI) reviews

Review 567 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

Hello everybody, NVIDIA today launches their GeForce GTX 670 series graphics cards. Guru3D has prepared four separate GeForce GTX 670 articles, once reference, one 2 and 3-way SLI review, an ASUS GTX 670 DirectCU II TOP review and a Palit GTX 670 Jetstream review:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 review
We review the GeForce GTX 670. NVIDIA disabled a couple of shader processors and designed a more cost effective and smaller PCB. The card itself is still quite beefy in terms of performance though, which you'll understand once we sifted through the specifications. The GK104 GPU based graphics card has one SM/SMX cluster disabled. This gives the GK104 GPU 1344 CUDA cores to work with.

GeForce GTX 670 2 and 3-way SLI review
We review the GeForce GTX 670 in both 2 and 3-way SLI. ASUS submitted their GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU II in two-fold, we add a reference card and that means multi-GPU gaming gangsta style. Over the next few pages we'll tell you a bit about multi-GPU gaming, the challenges, the requirements and of course there'll be a nice tasty benchmark session. We'll have a peek at temperatures and power consumption of the GeForce GTX 670 cards in 3-way SLI mode to monitor its generated performance and look at its handicaps.

Palit GeForce GTX 670 JetStream review
We review the Palit GeForce GTX 670 JetStream graphics card. the JetStream version which comes pre-overclocked at 1006 MHz on the baseclock and an impressible 1084 MHz on the boost clock. More interestingly, the boost clock during our test sessions was actually closer to 1200 MHz most of the time (!). To give the card enough framebuffer to work with the cards are equipped with 2048 GDDR5 on a 256-bits wide bus. Palit clocks this memory at 6108 MHz.

ASUS GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU II TOP review
We review the ASUS GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU II TOP edition. The DirectCU II TOP editions come factory overclocked pretty intensely towards 1058 MHz on the GPU base clock and a whopping 1137 MHz on the boost frequency. Even with that factory overclock, the card remains completely silent.

GeForce GTX 690 review

Review 567 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

We review the all new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690. NVIDIA took two of their best (Kepler GK104) GPUs, placed it onto one card, topped it off with a very nice and dandy cooler and calls this symbiosis of components a single solution graphics card.

Internally on that card a small PLX chip functions as PCI Express bridge in-between the two GPUs and sure, that means SLI is in full effect. And the performance .. well breathtaking of course. Have a peek right here in our 27 page review.

ASUS Maximus V GENE Z77 motherboard review

Review 567 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

We review the ASUS Maximus V GENE Z77 Motherboard. a smaller motherboard (mATX) yet a product that just oozes with dandy features and overclock potential. Next to the tweaking possibilities this is a ROG (Republic of Gamers) motherboard, and means extra enthusiast features alright.

Next to the tweaking possibilities this is a ROG (Republic of Gamers) motherboard, and means extra enthusiast features alright. New FAN Xpert 2 FAN regulation has now been embedded, we spot Smart DIGI+ Technology (Smart DIGI+ Key & Smart CPU Power Level), USB 3.0 Boost and the lovely USB BIOS Flashback (simply insert a USB stick with firmware, press a button and boom your mobo firmware was flashed). Very complete -- very small, read all about it right here.

Core i7 3770K & 3750 review with Z77 DZ77GA-70K mobo

Review 567 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

We review the Core i7 3770K and 3750 Ivy bridge processors alongside Intel's Z77 DZ77GA-70K  motherboard. Will Ivy Bridge be the processor series everything you expected?  Performance wise the all new Ivy Bridge series is not going to stun and shock like the Sandy Bridge series did. In fact clock for clock it is all roughly the very same, with a +0.8% performance offset in favor of Ivy Bridge.

However -- with Ivy Bridge comes increased overclockability, the platform comes with native USB 3.0, we get PCIe Gen 3 for the fastest graphics cards and overall just a really fast processor series.

XigmaTek GIGAS review

Review 567 Published by Hilbert Hagedoorn 0

SFF / MicroATX cases are typically smaller than typical ATX towers. This means that although the same standard hardware is supported, it is supported in lower quantities. Typically these boxes are used as a suitable HTPC home (home-theater personal computer), but with the looks the GIGAS offers, it would make a great gaming system as well as even lengthy graphics cards, ( up-to 320mm (12.5 inches) can be installed.

We review the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 680 OC edition with WindForce cooler. Gigabyte's GeForce GTX 680 OC (WindForce) edition comes with a custom made PCB that is armed with Gigabyte's durable component selection. Cooling will be based on the latest model of their three fan WindForce cooler, which I can say works pretty darn well in both performance and silence.

You'll spot two power connectors consist out of a 6-pin and one 8-pin PCIe PEG connector giving the card a little extra breathing room for overclocking. The card's base clock frequency is set at 1071 MHz while the memory runs stock clocked.
