Apple updates iMac range

Apple has today announced the new range of iMacs which now come with 8GB of memory and a 1TB hard drive as standard, configurable up to 32GB and 3TB respectively. The base level 21.5-inch iMac packs a 2.7 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor and new Iris Pro integrated graphics, while the high-end model and both 27-inch models provide quad-core Intel Core i5 processors up to 3.4 GHz and NVIDIA GeForce 700 series graphics. The new iMacs are upgradeable to 3.5GHz Intel Core i7 processors and 4GB NVIDIA GTX 780M graphics solutions. Suggested retail price for the base 21.5-inch model comes in at $1,299 (US).

The Beta will give players their first real experience of Battlefield 4 by allowing players to experience Frostbite 3, Levolution and Amphibious Assault in the all-new Siege of Shanghai map in both Conquest and Domination mode. Though this Beta is not just for fun, it also provides gamers the chance to suggest tweaks that could be implemented before the game is released on 1st November 2013. Beta testing will be on current gen consoles only, though information is still being gathered for the next gen consoles. Updates should be more frequent and easier to apply as consoles can continue an update when on standby. The open Beta is available for everyone to participate in from October 4th, though Battlefield 3 Premium members will have the opportunity to join the Beta testing period from October 1st. Justin Schuh, Security Engineer for Google Chrome has revealed on The Chromium Blog that Google Chrome will no longer support NPAPI (Netscape Plug-in API) based plug-ins from the beginning of next year. The ability to whitelist specific plug-ins will be provided in the short term but all support is likely to be fully dropped by 2015.

AMD Radeon R9 290X GPU leaks through Asian website

We are not that far away from a product release from AMD's launch of the AMD's Hawaii GPU, some site leaked pictures and benchmarks. If the photos published by DG's Nerdy Story web-site are to be believedthen you can expect a red-black cooling cover system that houses a high-speed blower, two CrossFire multi-GPU connectors as well as several digital monitor connections. The new AMD Radeon graphics card – which is believed to be called AMD Radeon R9 290X in accordance with alleged new AMD nomenclature – features AMD code-named Hawaii graphics processing unit as well as 14 GDDR5 memory chips. The new graphics card features similar multi-phase GPU power supply circuitry.
