Samsung has unveiled its latest product lineup at CES 2024, and among them is the new-generation smart display, the M80D. Building upon the foundation of its predecessor, the M8 from 2023, the M80D retains several key hardware specifications, featuring a 32-inch 4K panel and a detachable camera. While the previous M8 already offered some PC-independent functionalities, the M80D takes a step further with expanded capabilities. Although the device itself may not be packed with a multitude of features, it does support video calling through its webcam and allows users to stream content from providers like Netflix and Prime Video.

Additionally, the monitor is equipped with Samsung's Game Center, enabling users to enjoy cloud gaming. Furthermore, the M80D comes with dedicated applications for managing smart home devices, word processing, and accessing fitness indicators. The display is designed to deliver impressive HDR10+ visuals and features built-in two-channel speakers, as well as Bluetooth hardware for seamless connectivity with other devices, including wearables. Furthermore, it incorporates a handy tool that facilitates swift data transfer from various Samsung devices, such as Galaxy smartphones and Book laptops, directly to the monitor. While Samsung has confirmed the upcoming release of the Smart Display M80D sometime this year, pricing details are yet to be disclosed. For reference, the previous-generation product is currently priced at approximately US$700.
