On Monday morning, Twitter underwent a significant transformation at the behest of its owner, Elon Musk. The familiar bird logo has been replaced with the letter 'X.' Musk made the announcement on his own Twitter account, confirming the change's official implementation.

The new 'X' logo has been prominently displayed on the walls of Twitter's headquarters since Monday morning, as disclosed by Twitter's director, Linda Yaccarino. Notably, the official Twitter account has been renamed 'X,' and the logo has been updated on the website as well.

This move aligns with Musk's longstanding affinity for the letter 'X,' which has made recurring appearances in companies where he is involved. For instance, X.com was the initial name for the renowned payment service PayPal, co-founded by Musk. Additionally, Musk introduced the Model X at Tesla, and his space exploration company is called SpaceX. Even Musk's own son bears the name 'X.'

The transition to 'X' for Twitter was not unexpected, as Musk had expressed his intention to build X following the acquisition of the social network. He envisions it as an all-encompassing app for various purposes. Speculations suggest that Musk aims to create a Western alternative to the Chinese super app WeChat, which goes beyond conventional messaging and serves as a platform for online shopping, news reading, financial transactions, food ordering, and more, with over a billion daily users in China.

Since Sunday, the domain X.com has redirected to Twitter, indicating the impending change. Yaccarino elaborated on the brand transformation, stating that Twitter has significantly impacted communication, while 'X' will push the boundaries even further. The vision for 'X' revolves around limitless interactivity, encompassing audio, video, messaging, and payments. It is envisioned as a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities, incorporating artificial intelligence, though specifics about the new app remain undisclosed.

This rebranding represents the latest adjustment since Musk acquired Twitter. However, most of the previous changes have been met with mixed responses.

Bye bye birdy. Guru3D moved away from Twitter completely a few weeks ago.
