Micron Technology, Inc. has introduced two additions to its memory and storage lineup: the Crucial T705 Gen5 Solid State Drive (SSD) and the DDR5 Pro Memory: Overclocking Edition modules. The T705 SSD is offered in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities, boasting sequential read and write speeds of up to 14,500 MB/s and 12,700 MB/s, respectively. It supports Intel Core 13th and 14th generation CPUs as well as AMD Ryzen 7000 series CPUs and comes in variants with or without an integrated heatsink.

The DDR5 Pro Memory: Overclocking Edition is available in 16GB modules and features extended timings of 36-38-38-80 for reduced latency. It includes an aluminum heat spreader with an origami-inspired design and is designed to enhance frame rates in memory-intensive games at 1080p and 1440p resolutions. These modules are universally compatible with DDR5-based Intel Core 12th to 14th Gen desktop CPUs and AMD Ryzen 7000 to 8000G Series desktop CPUs.

  1. Features 36-38-38-80 extended memory timings, achieving a latency reduction of 25% compared to the Crucial DDR5 Pro Memory Plug and Play Edition.
  2. Includes a stylish aluminum heat spreader with an origami-inspired design, suitable for various gaming computer setups.
  3. Supports enhanced frame rates for improved gaming performance at 1080p and 1440p resolutions in demanding games such as Rainbow Six® Siege, Forza™ Horizon 4, Horizon Zero Dawn™, Cyberpunk 2077®, Hogwarts Legacy™, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, and Forespoken™.
  4. Compatible with DDR5-based desktop CPUs, including Intel Core 12th to 14th Generation and AMD Ryzen 7000 to 8000G Series.

The DDR5 Pro Memory: Overclocking Edition is set to be available on February 27, 2024, in 16GB densities, with 24GB densities expected later in the year. The T705 SSDs are currently available for pre-order and will be released on March 12, 2024. All Crucial Pro memory modules come with a limited lifetime warranty, while the T705 SSDs are covered by a 5-year warranty.

Crucial also unveiled the T705, a solid-state drive (SSD) that utilizes PCIe 5.0 technology, offering read speeds up to 14.5GB/s and write speeds up to 12.7GB/s for its 2TB model. The device is available in various storage capacities, peaking at 4TB, and can be purchased with or without a heatsink. The 4TB model without a heatsink is priced at approximately $987 (based on the current exchange rate from 870 euros).

The T705 SSD incorporates 232-layer TLC NAND memory developed by Micron, Crucial's parent company. The product lineup includes a standard version and a Limited Edition model featuring a white heatsink. However, Micron has not specified whether the drives are equipped with DRAM cache.

Performance varies by capacity: the 1TB model achieves up to 13.6GB/s read and 10.2GB/s write speeds, while the 4TB variant offers slightly reduced speeds of 14.1GB/s read and 12.6GB/s write. Notably, the 2TB model not only provides the highest sequential speeds but also excels in random performance, delivering 1.55 million IOPS (input/output operations per second) for read and 1.80 million IOPS for write operations. Information on random speeds for the 1TB and 4TB versions has not been disclosed.

The SSDs will hit the market on March 12, with the top-tier 4TB model with a heatsink priced at approximately $1,038 (converted from 915.11 euros). The entry-level version of the SSD will be available for around $337 (converted from 297.65 euros).
