MSI has issued firmware updates for its MPG 271QRX QD-OLED and MPG 321URX QD-OLED gaming monitors, introducing several enhancements and fixes aimed at optimizing performance and user control. The primary feature of this update is the integration of a control option for Display Stream Compression (DSC), which allows for improved image quality when sufficient display I/O bandwidth is available. Users can now toggle DSC DLDSR and DSR modes directly from the on-screen display (OSD). For the MPG 271QRX model, the firmware adds a new mode switching feature between HDMI Console and HDMI PC settings, with Console set as the default mode. This update also brings significant reductions in input lag and contributes to a reduced overall system latency. Another addition for the MPG 321URX is the ability to select different aspect ratios via the OSD, enhancing display customization.

The firmware resolves specific issues such as a persistent white-line artifact on the MPG 271QRX when operating at 2560 x 1440 resolution with a refresh rate of 360 Hz. Furthermore, improvements have been made across various OSD functionalities including language support optimization and the introduction of a power LED control, allowing users to turn off the display LED if desired.

Additional fixes include:

  • Color gamut clamping adjustments when HDR is active, ensuring HDR modes retain separate preset mode settings.
  • A resolution to the flickering issue observed when Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) is enabled.
  • Correction of an abnormal display behavior (dark screen) after switching VRR modes.
  • Enhanced panel protection behaviors linked to power state activities.

These updates are part of MSI's commitment to enhancing user experience and performance of its gaming monitors. Users can download and install the latest firmware by visiting the support section on the product pages of the respective monitors.
