Intel is set to release an upcoming GPU driver version 101.5186_101.5122, with a primary focus on elevating the performance of DirectX11 games. This driver update, expected to launch soon, is anticipated to deliver substantial performance improvements for DirectX11 titles, particularly benefiting 'The Last of Us Part 1' on Arc graphics cards equipped with 8 GB memory.

Initial data from Intel indicates a remarkable 30% increase in both average and 99th percentile frames per second (FPS) across various DirectX11 games. While the complete list of optimized games is yet to be officially confirmed, this driver update includes optimizations for several titles. Reviewers engaged in GPU testing this week have been recommended by Intel to utilize this upcoming driver, which is currently unreleased to the public. Some of the games slated for optimization in this driver update encompass:

  • Albion Online
  • Anno 1800
  • Apex Legends
  • Assassin’s Creed Syndicate
  • Back 4 Blood
  • Black Desert
  • Civilization 6
  • Elder Scrolls Online
  • Elex 2
  • Crusader Kings 3
  • Humankind
  • It Takes Two
  • Just Cause 3
  • Just Cause 4
  • New World

  • Space Engineers
  • Stars Wars Squadrons
  • Stellaris
  • The Hunt: Showdown
  • Titanfall 2
  • Watch Dogs: Legion
  • World of Tanks
  • XCOM 2
  • Warframe

The introduction of this driver signifies another substantial update from Intel, following the debut of Arc A7 GPUs in late 2022. In 2023, Intel has placed emphasis on software enhancements and performance optimization for DX11 and DX9 games. Regarding DX12 and Vulkan, Intel asserts that their architecture is already well-optimized for these advanced graphics APIs.
