NAS Settings and Storage manager

One feature that I wanted to mention is this one, Thecus is adding SSD caching. Basically you could add an SSD NAND based unit to the NAS and have it function as cache. This will greatly speed up your reads and writes, similar to using cache software on an SSD in your PC actually. A very nice feature, though I feel that NAND caches are a little dangerous with power loss. Then again, power dropping from a HDD isn't sexy either. With SSDs as cheap as they are these days, a 64GB unit could do wonders here if you do a lot of WWW/MySQL IOPS intensive stuff. For regular file sharing and streaming this however would be money lost as investment.

For our final page of screen-shots we look at settings and the storage manager. So if you hit the settings button you can see a plethora of functionality within the ThecusOS (managing software). Remember that we did a quick install with new Beta firmware? A side-effect was that our timezone wasn't properly configured. No biggy, hit regional options and work your way through from there on. Below some random screenshots showing functionality and features combined with the ThecusOS 7 beta software :
