Product Showcase - The Build

Though our review concentrates on how well the Corsair 6500X computer case works with special types of motherboards that have their connectors flipped around, like the ones MSI and Asus have made. Even though we used a regular motherboard for our tests, this case can also fit these unique boards that are gradually becoming available.

The Corsair 6500X has a big main area with lots of room at the front and a special dip near where the motherboard goes. This is great for fitting in big cooling parts. Unlike some cases, this one doesn't have a cover for the power supply, which sits at the back of the case. It's made to hold several sizes of motherboards, from small ones up to larger ones that are about 27.7 cm long. If you try to put in a bigger motherboard, it might block part of the side of the case.

Here's what you can do with fans and cooling parts:

  • You can put three 120 mm fans on the side.
  • The top can hold three fans too, either 120 mm or 140 mm in size.
  • The bottom fits three 120 mm fans.
  • And there's space for one fan at the back, which can be 120 mm or 140 mm.

For cooling with water (radiators), it's pretty flexible:

  • Up to 360 mm on the side.
  • Either 360 mm or 280 mm on top.
  • The same options (360 mm or 280 mm) at the bottom.
  • And a smaller 120 mm or 140 mm at the back.

Don't mind the nerd in the reflection ;) Putting in the power supply is easy, and the case is designed so the cables don't get in the way of other parts like hard drives. It's also easy to get to the plugs on the back of the motherboard.

In our tests, the case did a good job keeping the noise down. It stayed quiet most of the time and didn't get too loud even when the computer was working hard. If you need more air to cool down your computer, there's another version of this case called the 6500D Airflow. It might be a bit noisier, though.
