RGB LED Control

RGB LED Control

Patriot Viper RGB as the name speaks has RGB functionality embedded. And yes, it works out really nice. Patriot provides Viper RGB Software Application, that enables the control of lighting. One remark though, Viper RGB Software Application may conflict with other similar Applications. (i.e. ASUS/Aura Sync, Gigabyte/RGB Fusion, MSI/Mystic Light Sync, ASRock/Polychrome Sync, etc). You don’t need another utility to install and run, you can do it all from one place. If you DO need to deal with just your new memory, Viper does have a utility for it. This software can’t control other brands RGB memory modules, it’s designed to work only with Patriot Viper RGB series. At first, you need to set the heatshield color (white/black), and then you’re ready to go.

There are seven customizable light effects (and dark option – to disable RGB totally, but hey, why would you buy that version, right?) to choose from. Additionally, you can set-up the brightness and speed of the RGB lighting. You are able to save five profiles.

Available lighting effects are:

  • Dark, all RGB zones are off
  • Breathing, for which all zones light up simultaneously, then gradually fade to dark.
  • Viper, where middle RGB zone is continuously on, while the other four zones light up, then gradually fade to dark from the outer zones toward the middle.
  • Heartbeat, where half of the zones flash twice, followed by all zones flashing in sequence.  Then the other half of the zones flash twice, followed by all zones flashing in sequence
  • Marquee, for which all zones flash and light up in sequence.  Then all zones flash and go dark in sequence.
  • Aurora, where each zone gradually changes from one color to the next in the spectrum
  • Neon, for which all zones gradually change from one color to the next in the spectrum at the same time

Overall the software is easy to work with, and shouldn’t cause any issues. Also – I didn’t have any stability problems with it. If you want more information, please check the Patriot manual for this memory kit.
