Performance: Handbrake 2017, Cinebench

HandBrake is an open-source, GPL-licensed, multiplatform, multithreaded video transcoder, available for MacOS X, Linux and Windows. This software puts multithread CPUs to good use and it allows to transcode videos using different codec, like for instance h.264. For video transcoding – the more CPU cores, the better, as it’s very intensive task for a processor. In this test, we encode a 4K source file to 1080p30 MKV container. This benchmark is really good for checking the performance of both CPU and memory. In the graph below, you’ll find average number of rendered frames per second. Of course you’d want to achieve as much, as possible.

When using a dual-channel system, the better memory frequency doesn’t help as much, as you would like to be.

CINEBENCH is a test suite that computer's performance capabilities. CINEBENCH is based on MAXON's animation software CINEMA 4D, which is used extensively by studios and production houses worldwide for 3D content creation. HyperThreading is much appreciated, so Intel processors are in favor. The test scene contains approximately 2,000 objects containing more than 300,000 total polygons and uses sharp and blurred reflections, area lights and shadows, procedural shaders, antialiasing, and much more. The result is given in points (pts). The higher the number, the faster the processor.  

CineBench R15 is mainly CPU test. Memory frequency influence is negligible here.
