Performance - Benchmarks

Testing PerformanceNow that we have the system up and running with the new cooling solution let's run some tests. Initial thoughts... very impressive. The CPU is running really steady at an idle temperature of 25 Degrees C. As part of the test we maxed the workload of the CPU to 100% for 15 minutes constant, while managing some serious encoding work.

The fun part is... the temperature does not rise that much even with a full 100% workload, it only differed a couple of degrees but basically that's it. This creates some serious overclocking potential for the CPU.

The following tests have been taken at a 24-25 Degrees room temperature.

Idle

Load

CPU Air 42 51
Asetek CPU Water 7v  30 32
Asetek CPU Water 12v 27 31
H20 CPU Water 7v 25 31
H20 CPU Water 12v 25 28

We are showing the results at 7 volts and 12 volts. At 12 Volts the radiator fan made more noise yet when you look at it, it did not have a huge impact on cooling at all, we saw a 2-3 degree difference, so we choose the silent 7 volts option as standard.

As you can see compared to traditional air-cooling at idle we have a 15 degree difference. At 100% processor utilization that difference is even bigger. Compared to the Asetek (which in it's defense must be stated "it had a small single fan radiator") the h20 system is performing better. We are, however, talking a few Degrees C here though. Next to that something I MUST add as a note, the Asetek cooled down an Athlon 2000+ CPU which is a different ballgame, apples versus oranges etc. It's core temperature was slightly higher which shows results in idle mode clearly. But since we are testing watercooling here I decided to integrate the results to give you a better overview. Both solutions are just downright awesome.

One thing is a sure fact, watercooling solutions offers serious tweaking possibilities for your system without the usual noisy environment, it is able to absorb a lot of heat. Right, I've shown you all I can show. Let's go to the conclusion shall we ?
