10 - Performance: ZLIB | Triple Channel memory

ZLib CPU test

This integer benchmark measures combined CPU and memory subsystem performance through the public ZLib compression library Version 1.2.2

CPU ZLib test uses only the basic x86 instructions, and it is HyperThreading, multi-processor (SMP) and multi-core (CMP) aware. A very good test to measure multi-core performance among platforms. Again really close performance among the X58 based systems.

Memory Read test

Lavalys Everest has an excellent tool to measure memory bandwidth. Now the ASUS motherboard is showing results based on a 1870 MHz DDR3 clock. The Intel reference X58 platform used another brand memory, Qimonda with slightly tighter timings.

Yet on the ECS and gigabyte X58 motherboards we unfortunately could not get the memory running at 1870 MHz. For ECS the BIOS did not allow this. This is however a pre-production motherboard and likely needs a BIOS tweak here and there to get it fully up and running. Still we get 14GB/sec READ performance returned and 12GB/sec WRITE performance which is still insane compared to last-gen memory bandwidth.
