Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter

In Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 3, players will embody Captain Scott Mitchell as he commands the Ghosts and Special Forces allies equipped with the IWS in the quest to save the president of the United States, recover stolen nuclear codes and eliminate a vicious band of renegade soldiers hell-bent on unleashing catastrophe. The game unfolds entirely in Mexico City, where numerous, thoroughly researched and detailed environments will deliver complete immersion into the future of urban warfare.

Don't mistake the PC version for being a port of the Xbox 360 game. The PC version has larger and different levels than those featured on the Xbox 360, as well as a different graphics engine and style of gameplay. The game itself looks great and the intricate physics modeling seen in the single-player version is still active in the multiplayer version. In fact, it's so detailed that if you have the upcoming Aegia physics card, you'll see sparks bouncing off objects in the environment. Even if you don't have a physics card, though, there are all sorts of other interactions you'll encounter in multiplayer. For instance, aluminum cans litter the street and stepping on them not only kicks them around, but also creates a loud sound that may betray your presence to the enemy.

You either hate or love this game, me personally I can't get enough of it.  I played it to the end and then started all over again. Usually with any previous generation high-end graphics card you'd need to stick at 1600x1200 in this game, which honestly is really good. Well the 8800 GTX is going like "well frak that!" For the 8800 GTS I recommend you stick at 1920x1200 and the GTX simply is a power house, 2560x1600 gaming babe at 44 FPS!

Prey

Prey tells the story of Tommy, a Cherokee garage mechanic stuck on a reservation going nowhere. Abducted along with his people to a menacing mother ship orbiting Earth, he sets out to save himself and his girlfriend and eventually his planet.

In Prey, players enter a living spaceship that enslaves alien races and devours humans for lunch. Prey turns the first-person-shooter genre upside-down with new gameplay features like wall-walking and gravity flipping, making for intense single- and multiplayer experiences. Prey is built on a heavily modified version of Doom 3 engine and is developed by Human Head Studios under the direction of 3D Realms.

First off (and I simply wanted to do these pointless results with one game) Trilinear filtering and no AA only results as shown above. You can push up to 2560x1600 actually. Now why did I do this? Look at the results below and try to understand how little of a performance impact 4xAA and 16xAF have these days.

This is all about architectural efficiency and so darn remarkable to see.

Above,

what you are looking at are the results at 4xAA and 16xAF with all possible image IQ settings to high in-game. With these settings typically with a previous-gen enthusiast graphics card you'd stick at a resolution up to 1920x1200. And although the G80 GTS is taking a kick in the nuts the GTX promises you the best gaming experience available at 53 FPS.

This is one of the game titles we'll also test CSAA with later on in this article.
