Size matters

When we flip the unit around, we see a small mini-pc of its kind; it measures only 12.6x 11.3x 4.2cm in size. The Beelink SER5's body is constructed from a rigid material with holes on the sides and ventilation grills on the back to allow the internal fan to easily vent warm air. The saying fan takes cold air from the center and distributes it throughout the interior of the mini PC to maintain the optimal temperature of all components. At the bottom, you'll see rubber pads; remove these, and you'll stumble into screws that need to come out if we want to open it up. As you can see, this box is compact, very compact.

The inner packaging of the Beelink SER5 Pro 5800H Mini-PC is efficiently designed and straightforward. The standard hardware bundle comprises the system, power adapter, and a set of brackets for attaching the unit to your TV or monitor's VESA mount. A standout feature is Beelink's inclusion of two HDMI cables with the SER5 Pro 5600H system, which, while not necessary, are a convenient addition. These short cables are ideal for when the system is mounted behind a monitor.

The top surface of the Beelink SER5 Pro 5600H features a fine-textured, ventilated design, adorned with the company, AMD, Ryzen, and Radeon logos. The bottom is a solid metal plate with elongated rubber feet and four screws for securing it. Two screw holes at the bottom are designed for the VESA mounting plate. A helpful quick guide on the underside displays keyboard shortcuts for accessing the BIOS or boot options menu, catering to those less familiar with computers.

The front I/O comprises 2x USB 3.2 Type-A ports, a USB 3.2 Type-C port, a power button, and a small opening for easy CMOS clearing. A combo audio jack is also available for headphones or microphones. A large intake vent is located on the left side. The rear I/O consists of 1x USB 3.2 Type-A port, 1x USB 2.0 Type-A port, 2x HDMI 2.0 ports, 1x 1 GbE LAN, and a power plug. To manage heat effectively, Beelink employs the top third of the rear as an exhaust port with three openings, promoting efficient airflow. The right side is similar to the left, with a sizeable vented area for drawing in fresh air. Dismantling the Beelink SER5 Pro 5600H is a breeze: remove the four screws at each corner on the bottom, then lift and pivot the bottom plate, taking care not to pull too hard due to the attached SATA ribbon cable. The bottom plate also functions as a 2.5-inch HDD tray. At this stage, you can access the system memory and storage.

Though further disassembly may not be necessary for upgrades, you can remove the memory and SSD for a more thorough cleaning. The system features an intel AX200 160 MHz Wi-Fi module (Wi-Fi 6 2x2 rated) with Bluetooth 5.2 support. To extract the motherboard, remove the four corner screws, taking care not to stretch the Wi-Fi antenna cables. Once separated, you can access the CPU cooler, fan, and CMOS battery.

A closer inspection of the memory and SSD reveals that Beelink has chosen a CT500P3SSD8 | Crucial P3 M.2 500 GB Internal SSD and 2x 8 GB Crucial DDR4 3200 MHz SODIMM memory modules. You can install an extra M2 SSD but also SATA3 SSD as shown in the above photo.
