Product Showcase
We undertook a thorough assessment of AMD's new Ryzen 7 8700G processor to obtain significant findings. Our testing procedures involved using the B650 motherboard from ASUS (STRIX)and G.skill Trident Z5 NEOR DIMMs in the form of 32GB 6400 MHz CL32, which we set to Expo mode. We analyzed several performance metrics to assess the capabilities of the Ryzen 7000X3D processors.
Ryzen 7 8700G
AMD introduced the Ryzen 7 8700G, a desktop CPU featuring 8 cores, at a suggested retail price of $329. This processor belongs to the Ryzen 7 series, built on the Zen 4 (Phoenix) architecture and compatible with Socket AM5. Thanks to AMD Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT), it effectively offers 16 threads. The Ryzen 7 8700G comes equipped with 16 MB of L3 cache and operates at a base clock speed of 4.2 GHz, with the ability to boost up to 5.1 GHz depending on the workload. The silicon die of the Ryzen 7 8700G, manufactured using a 4 nm production process and containing 25,000 million transistors, is produced at TSMC's foundry instead of AMD's own facilities. The unlocked multiplier on this CPU allows for easy overclocking, enabling users to fine-tune their desired overclocking frequency. With a thermal design power (TDP) of 65 W, the Ryzen 7 8700G exhibits typical power consumption levels for a modern PC processor. It supports DDR5 memory through a dual-channel interface, with an officially supported memory speed of 5200 MT/s. Overclocking, with compatible memory modules, can push this speed even higher. The processor also supports ECC memory, which is important for mission-critical systems aiming to prevent data corruption. The Ryzen 7 8700G utilizes a PCI-Express Gen 4 connection for communication with other system components. It features the Radeon 780M integrated graphics solution, eliminating the need for a separate graphics card. In the package, you'll find not only the processor itself but also a Wraith Spire cooler for efficient cooling.
