Performance - System Memory

The AMD Ryzen 8000G, much like its predecessor, the Ryzen 7000, is officially specified to support a maximum memory speed of DDR5-5200. However, the integrated 12-CU RDNA 3 iGPU within the APU stands to gain substantial benefits from increased memory bandwidth, unlike the Ryzen 7000 which may not have shown as significant improvements with more memory bandwidth or could have been hindered by insufficient bandwidth. Buyers of the new APUs opt for DDR5-6000 (with dual-channel being a general requirement). It's worth noting that DDR5-6000 is an official JEDEC standard, much like DDR5-5200 and DDR5-5600. However, as of now, there are no commercially available memory modules that meet this JEDEC-compliant clock rate. Memory modules exceeding DDR5-6000 or even higher speeds, while not within official specifications (often requiring higher voltage), are readily available. Our memory tests are focused on copy, write, and latency. We use the kit that came along with our review kit, the 32GB dual channel 6400 MHz CL32 DDR5 RAM.
