Xe GPU marketing managers Chris Hook and Heather Lennon leave Intel Errmm because of this??? Amazon Best Sellers: https://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Computers-Accessories-Computer-CPU-Processors/zgbs/pc/229189 Top 10 dominated by,Errmm, AMD Ryzen??? PS: Intel fake news: "We have some trouble in 14nm Cpu stocks, the people buy our old fart Core tech very fast and cannot supply the demand", actually consumers buy the greatest Ryzen CPU and old fart Core cpus is obsolete. 🙂

That's certainly true! Today's marketing isn't about direct influence of the target group anymore... and to some extent, Musk proifts from the "every publicity is good publicity" rule. And that's what's still surprising me... I'm wondering, if the target group's young people (e.g. 2k+ birth years), why isn't there more meme work? I understand that the target group of 70s birth and earlier doesn't really work with memes, but anything afterwards clearly could profit. And it's so easily done, just take a picture, two to three lines of text, earn six or seven figure marketing contracts for gaming, beauty, clothing etc.
Direct influence WAS the thing until last year, because of the saturation until overdose, people react less and less... And it go down as fast as it get first place. I think that next chapter will be a mix of old way and new way but both with less lies and hypes, actual consumers start again to use their brain again (is it due to general lack of money at each level of our societal system ??? ).

Perhaps nuvia paid them a lot of money? I checked their website but it doesn't really say much apart from they have a lot of jobs on offer. I guess if you are in near the start and it is successful then you can make lots from your shares as an early employee. Reward v risk.
Paid more than Intel? Intel poached them in the first place, so surely they'd be willing to out-pay any competitors.
Astyanax:

Not quite, this pair are a couple of fools and have damaged AMD in the past by uptalking the product beyond its capability.
Perhaps that's why they left: if Xe isn't very good, they didn't want their entire resume to be full of failed products. That being said, them departing is not making me feel so great about Xe. I was really hoping this would be a good competitor but now I'm not so sure.

Both Hook and Lennon are/were marketing at AMD. I didn't understand why anyone made a fuss over them going to Intel in the first place--it's not as if they designed or engineered any hardware @ AMD...;)

Intel gpu is major failure: 1. Marketing folks know a sinking boat will have use for them.. Intel gpu is fine: 1. Nuvia is offering alot more money. 2. Intel was a horrible place to work and since they burned bridges with AMD really had limited options in their area of expertise. Am I missing plausible scenarios here?

Yes one: -Intel GPU is far to be ready for mass production. Intel doesn't need so much marketing as they are late in the dev and offer them a "parachute" (mean some extra money) if they leave the boat by themself. Money is still a ressource that Intel have in mass... And it is this way i have left my two last work.

I wanted to add this here for those talking about marketing. What Steve Jobs is talking about in this video is exactly whats happening with big tech today. [youtube=-AxZofbMGpM]
