This isnt some noble favor to the pc crowd. CDP are just smart enough to not waste time, money and resources (or simply cant afford to) on a pointless thing like drm.
They didnt have enough resources to provided a pc version that stands above the consoles versions, i hardly think they'd have the man power and money to work on DRM.

sad news the scumbag pirates torrent this game when the dev tries to do there best for pc gamers and make drm free games ive pre order my copy from amazon and happy to pay for this great game

I guess they take pirates for fools? Providing the update as a separate download allows them to track your IP address. Maybe they'll compare those IP addresses to the ones they're tracking within the torrent swarm?
I don't know, but I'm not buying this 'we're so friendly now' attitude after all the 'we'll pursue pirates aggressively' mentality they've used in the past.

in these days (youtube, hundreds reviews at websites etc. ) saying that piracy is for "demo downloading and then buying " is pure bull... .
if you can buy highend pc then for sure you can spend a few bucks on game . just dont download / buy everything that apear 😉

Honestly, whilst I will wait to see if this turns out to be real or not, if it is, I will buy the game. I haven't pirated it an don't intend to, until now it was in the 'probably good but I can do without it' basket along with pretty much every other game. If this turns out to be real I will buy it simply out of respect, and this will be that non competitive game that I end out playing (which happens about once a year). This approach is one I can respect, and I haven't bought a game since 2009.

What exactly is wrong with that mentality?
The entire complaint is that these studios were launching game titles with tons of broken DRM schemes that effected actual paying customers, including The Witcher. They removed the DRM and so far all their new releases have been DRM free. They should definitely still pursue pirating though. People sitting here with $1500+ machines pirating $30 games. That **** needs to stop.

I read this article then went onto GOG and bought the game with my hard earned cash! The Witcher Devs are actively not trying to shaft consumers so I shan't be shafting them in return by pirating the game!
Wish I could say the same about AC this year unless Ubisoft stop asking us all to bend over!

They should also make a version demo of the game and maybe not so many ppl will pirate their hard work,also they should stop false advertise about the quality of their game,but hey,I guess if they do that they will not sell so many copies.
We saw in 2013 how the game was on PC,now in 2015 we saw something else,ppl accused them of being liars and then they say: "so what?ppl lie all the time"...and they want gamers respect...lel,ok,gl with that.you should go on their forums to see the damage control...it`s like Russia Stalin era.

That's a dumb reason to steal. If it's that buggy and broken then don't play it. Just because a game has been released doesn't mean you have to play it. And if you play it, you should pay for it.

Im against piracy but... developers should make demo versions like they used to. Just look how many games are looking worse/buggy while at trailers they look fantastic!
90% of new games have major problems when released. I know some ppl that download games and if its okay the buy it. Demos would help them decide without stealing.
I remember COD2 and COD4 demos... finished those missions dozens of times and I bought the games 1st thing in the morning @ release date

I assume they all stopped providing DEMOs due to massive sizes that you have to download just to play..a demo. I think.
