Well, until then we can get Black Mesa...
Black Mesa will be completed this summer, so that's something.

....i think the SP game will be based before what happened in Black Mesa (do note the teleportation going from the past and future during cutscenes in HL2).....

Or just get on with your lives and stop wishing for something that will never come out. If it ever did, it would never live up to its name at this point. I'm hoping/guessing it will be something completely new that is built with VR specifically in mind.

My guess: HL3 won't be releaded until VR technology is mature enough.

Half-Life .... Confirmed..
Even if there is "new" half-life" it would never live up to the massive hype and fan hopes at this point. Look at what happen to DNF AKA Duke Nukem Forever AFA Did not Finish I like Half-Life and played the 2nd one and thought it was eh. I honestly think the reason people go crazy of it is cause Valve like to make people sweat before releasing a new game. It ok FPS game nothing more. Im sure people will castrate me for say it too

HL2 was more of a tech demo for the Source Engine. The gameplay was fun but the story was garbage.

Lost Coast is a demo for source engine. What I like about Half Life 1 and 2, each release was a milestone in gaming. HL1 is graphics, HL2 is pretty physics. Gamer and developers looked upon it. Valve can't release "half-ass" HL3, it needs to be big and it have to be something new, that will create a new meta for gaming. So what is so big that HL3 can be designed on? What can create a new meta for gaming? Pretty graphics and physics are old as Crisis 1. Coop is already done with L4D. Multiplayer is done with TF2 and Dota2... It leaves VR. HL3 could be 100% supported VR game. Valve has LOTS of skill working with VR. They implemented VR for Dota2 spectator and created VR testing software (Lab). Whatever big single player game Valve is working on, I am looking forward how it gonna impact gamers and gaming industry.

People like you don't deserve the future.

My hope is that Valve gets realistic one day and stop mucking about with HL3 and sell off the franchise to another good gaming studio to work on it.

They stopped and said there are no plans for HL3
valve changes plans, & focus, & their minds more than a woman. not surprising considering nobody is "in charge" of a projects direction at all due to the company structure. it enables bandwagon-induced dithering...considering a projects release depends entirely upon the ability to persuade others to help, & then the proponents tenacity to fight the inevitable decline in enthusiasm when people get frustrated/bored by the project when it isnt as novel or productive as it once felt. due to this type of crap, they could drop a project with a ton of assets halfway through simply because people want to go do something different & everyone else just leaves, like a server clearing when one person says "****ty map". or like when you say your girlfriends sisters name during sex & then all of a sudden its over :infinity:
