Is it my idea or this seems to be the time AMD dumping their absolute bottom barrel silicon :P ... What ever can work as a lower bit they did not have an sku for em ...yet !

I agree, it is pretty weird. I'm guessing there's some big market that asked for it, because otherwise I figure these would be better off binned as a 5700X.

How would a lesser CPU be binned as a 5700x. Since 3xxx cpus, anything 3100 and R3 was a quadcore with SMT. It was odd that they released a R6 3500 in Asian markets for OEMS, but not anywhere else. A 6 core/6 thread cpu was a great budget idea and it got pissed away.

AMD tends to do such thing with their 5xx pieces and bellow on GPUs too ...most likely. Just piled up defective silicon (most likely) that can work fine as a lower sku! To mind comes Ryzen 3100 an 3200 and the OEM only rx5500xt that's actually faster than the 6500xt !

IIRC, the 5700X has a pair of core clusters. The 5100 is 4c/8t. Multiply that by 2 and you get 8c/16t.

Yeah that's what I thought too but I never really looked at this specifically :P so it was possible I missed it has 2ccx dies and and io die !
