Imagine the following game series being Xbox only - Watch Dogs - Assassins Creed - All Tom Clancy series games (SplinterCell, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, Division etc) - FarCry - Prince of Persia - Rayman - etc etc etc Wouldn't be good per-say, but I could see MS being hungry for that catalogue.

The problem with Ubisoft and many other publishers/developers is they think they can open a 'store' and the 'store' will accumulate users and these users will be a cash cow.

There's only 1 Farcry game and that's the original, including the monsters. Farcry 2 could've been named something different and it would've been it's own thing. Now Farcry is the videogame equivalent of Quantum Leap. P.S. How people's mindsets have changed. Now it seems like people are positive about MS buying up studios lmao. So easy to forget the ones they bought and wrecked/shut-down.

Is it wrong that I feel happy about this? I've boycott Ubisoft ever since their use of Starforce DRM (killed my DVD drive at the time) and their nefarious use of ever increasingly draconian DRM measures . I used to love the games that Ubisoft would publish but bitter about how their DRM would impact my experience.
Yes you are wrong. Blackstone is an equity company, and one of the big 5 companies (like State St, Blackrock, Av) that push to own everything. Including the house you are live in. Then they take Ubi expect CRT and all the social justice crap come to gaming. While everything will be online subscription model only.

This consolidation of so many franchises under just a very few companies is very scary. Regardless of being Microsoft or not. Imagining a Disney type company in videogames, that buys most IPs would be very bad for consumers. It would mean less variety, less choice, higher prices and less quality.

I'd be in favor of a Far Cry (1) remake, but the original is great and probably wouldn't be as creepy if remade today.

Let's rephrase then, I'm happy that Ubisoft is up for sale in the hopes for a potentially better company to be in charge, but of course should another nefarious company take ownership, well, it's no loss for me since I'm already boycotting them, just means I boycott the new owner too...

I remember those stories and there were a lot of the optical drives getting destroyed. Wasn’t that around 2005 - 2007?

Yes. However, look how EA und Ubisoft have screwed up on their own. They have already become disgusting microtransaction cashiers, EA subjectively even hardly bothers with any new AAA games at all. They need a switch in mentality, which they are uncapable of on their own. So I guess it only can get better.

Earlier than that, late 2003. I actually still have the offending game in my physical collection, XIII - the problem was that the DRM would introduce read errors and certain drives as a result would operate at slower speeds to compensate and with some drives, this caused problems as they weren't designed to operate at such slow speeds eventually leading to failure. Agreed, I wouldn't think of it as a good thing.

That would be a great start. If done right. This is just a mod, but it would be really cool if we had a fully developed remaster. [youtube=JJgmcttNup0]
Imagine this with state of the art animations...wouw amazing

Ah, now I remember. Damn! 2003! Geez! I remember it was screwing up people with Nero Burning Rom. Their CD-RW/DVD-RW drives would disappear from device manager. Some managed to get their drives back by unplugging/connecting it back up. Others sadly not.
