"that has entranced legions of fans worldwide which resulted in the games" More like "that has entranced legions of fans worldwide after playing the games" 😀

Great news. Hopefully it will be better than the Polish version. Mad Mikkelsen should play Geralt 🙂 However... Tbh this
Sapkowski will serve as a creative consultant on the series
worries me. The guy is a toxic drunkard with a superiority complex. I wouldn't let him anywhere near The Witcher TV show. Let him have his slice of the pie (he is still butthurt he didn't believe in CD Projekt and refused their original deal), but keep him away from the TV Series.

Many different high expectations = a lot of disappointed fans. Can't please all. I'll take it as something independent from the games.

Best news I've read in months. I freaking love the world, played every Witcher game several times, and now I'm also almost finished with the last of the books as well. I know there is a bit of beef between Sapkowski and CDProjekt, which is truly a shame. However one puts it though, the fame of the Witcher saga wouldn't be where it is now without the games, and were the books not written, we wouldn't have the games to begin with.

I hope it's better then the Legend of the Seeker series' screen adaptation was. I have the books on my backlist to read on of these decades, but maybe if I watch the tv series before reading the books I won't dislike it as much. 😛

NO, stop making movies and or show based of games, they all windup sucking and disrepecting the original game source material

I have every expectation of this being mediocre to terrible. TV has been sucky in recent years.

This series is based off the books, the same as the games. I don't really get the "Tv sucks now!" argument either. It has almost always sucked for the most part, in a day and age where you can pick what you watch when you want to watch it, I'm following far more quality shows then I ever have. Black Sails Game of Thrones The Expanse Legion Westworld American Gods Outlander I could go on to be honest, as far as I'm concerned TV has never been better.

There's a lot of book based series' and movies which are fantastic, far more than those based on games. So yeah, it does make it better. I'm more than willing to reserve judgement on this. The source material has to come from somewhere.

Some of us pine for the days of yore when copious amounts of swearing and/or sex scenes weren't in most shows.

There's always reruns if your delicate sensibilities are at risk. Honestly, I've always found that a poor argument. You're happy for violence, but a bit of sex/nudity/swearing in proper context is taboo? Whatever makes you happy I guess.

My sensibilities aren't delicate, it's obnoxious, edgy, and an excuse to avoid writing dialogue as much as possible. Edit: That goes for gratuitous violence too.

There are still shows like that, I don't understand why would anyone expect a show based on the Witcher's world to be like that though. In my opinion, the hardest thing to nail will be Geralt's humanity and inherit kindness.

I haven't read the books so I can't say. My comments, beyond the first, have all been aimed at recent TV trends in general.

The thing about making a series from a game like Witcher is everyone's experience in game is a little different from each other. Some may like it while others will not. I am sort of mixed about it. I suppose we will see.

There are also Vince Gilligan's series, with the completely underrated Better Call Saul for example, that really show how character development and tension can happen without a single drop of blood. Same for House of Cards. Sex and violence should have a place in adult entertainment, but they should be used to make things feel important. All of the actually good TV that's out there does that. Even Game of Thrones and its tits.

The novels have enough swearing and violence. They are not for politically correct and who can't take the harshness and ugliness of the world. It's made for mature audience. We are never going back to the disgusting days of Hays Code.

Never read the books, but never considered the games to be mature. It's not something i would watch as i did not like the story from the games or this genre, but Netflix are more likely to get this right than something like a big name TV network would have years ago.
